Robert Biale Vineyards, based in Napa, California, produces Petite Sirahs, Petite and Syrah blends, superb Zinfandels, and blends of all these varietals.
Like Father Like Son is a blend of Petite Sirah and Syrah with roughly 7% Zinfandel added to the mix.
The end result is a very, nice bottle of wine.
Prior to tasting, the wine was not decanted.
A sip brought out the signature fruits and more. I tasted blackberry, blueberry, plum, and chocolate. Unlike the Biale Zinfandels, this wine didn’t have that big jaminess I am accustomed to. They have really done a great job combining the Petite Sirah and Syrah varietals, and the addition of Zinfandel definitely adds to the complexity in a good way.
I would describe the finish as medium, but surprisingly longer than I had expected.
I purchased the 2008 Like Father Like Son for $46. Overall, this was a nice bottle of wine. Please try one and let me know what you think!
