Purchased with dinner at Salt Creek Grille in Rumson, NJ.
From Pritchard Hill in Napa Valley. 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Malbec, 9% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot. 14.9% ABV.
This is a nice bottle of wine.
Very distinctive cherries on the nose with some floral notes. The cherries pleasantly explode on your palate with an ever so mild hint of chocolate (just a pinch). The tannins are sweet and smooth. The blending of Malbec, Melot, and Petit Verdot definitely adds to the overall effect in a positive way. They assist in tempering the high alcohol, which really doesn’t overpower this wine. They also add to backing flavors on the palate. The wine has a nice medium finish.
I paired this with a Chili-Lime Yellowfin Tuna entree and it went great. I almost had the Filet Mignon (this wine cries out for a hearty beef dish). Not sure about a pasta dish (let me know!).
It cost me $95 in the restaurant, so I’m guessing retail is in the $42-49 range.
